San Mateo County, CA – May 28, 2025 – Last Wednesday wasn't just another day on the mats at Thrive Jiu Jitsu in San Mateo County. It was a day etched into local history, dedicated to the man whose vision and dedication built the thriving community within its walls: Professor OJ Domingues.
The first proclamation declared May 28, 2025, as "Professor OJ Domingues Day" throughout San Mateo County. Supervisor Canepa, speaking passionately, highlighted Professor OJ's profound contributions that extend far beyond teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques. "Professor Domingues embodies the spirit of community," Supervisor Canepa stated. "Through Thrive Jiu Jitsu, he hasn't just built a gym; he's built a sanctuary. A place where discipline is learned, confidence is forged, resilience is built, and a true sense of family flourishes. His dedication to empowering youth, fostering inclusivity, and providing a positive outlet for individuals of all ages and backgrounds has made a tangible difference in countless lives across our county. Naming this day in his honor is a small token of our immense gratitude for his decade of service."
